Wayfinders: A Pacific Odyssey, a documentary film about a community of Pacific Islanders who are reclaiming their cultural heritage by studying the ancient art of celestial navigation and retracing the extraordinary ocean voyages of their ancestors. Wayfinder focuses on the revival of wayfinding-the art of guiding a canoe across long distances using only natural signs: the sun, the moon, the stars, and the ocean swells. Using archival sources, oral traditions, archaeological discoveries, and experimental voyages, these ancient skills are being passed on to a new generation of wayfinders.
