Gratitude
“If you look to others for fulfillment,
you will never truly be fulfilled.
If your happiness depends on money,
you will never be happy with yourself.
Be content with what you have;
rejoice in the way things are.
When you realize there is nothing lacking,
the whole world belongs to you.”
—Lao Tzu
Monthly Practice:
-
Gratitude: What are you grateful for at this time in your life?
Write at least three letters of gratitude every week.
Recent research indicates that feelings of gratitud release positive endorphins and create health throughout the body.
Everyday: “give thanks for the unknown blessings already on their way.”
-
Generosity: Look for ways to cultivate your generosity. During the harvest season of October and November, seek ways to help alleviate suffering; participate in compassionate service for the sick, poor, elderly and youth; and do something that has a lasting impact and makes a difference in the lives of others, both in your own community and in the world.
“That it will never come again is what makes life so sweet”
—Emily Dickinson
