A Tribute to the Ancestors
We Remember Them
At the rising of the sun and at its going down
We remember them.
At the blowing of the wind and the chill of winter
We remember them.
At the opening of the buds and the rebirth of spring
We remember them.
At the blueness of the skies and in the warmth of summer
We remember them.
At the rustling of the leaves and in the beauty of autumn
We remember them.
At the beginning of the year and when it ends
We remember them.
As long as we live, they too will live; for they are now a part of us,
As we remember them.

Every culture of the world honors ancestors. During the month of November, take time to honor your own ancestors and give thanks for all that they have done to pave the way for you. Who are your favorite ancestors, and why? What are the stories that you pass on about your own ancestors? How will you be remembered as an ancestor?

November is also the month of Thanksgiving. Use this month as way of giving heartfelt thanks, to those who have provided blessings and opportunities in your life; to those who have taught you about love and compassion; to those who have offered the great gift of friendship and collegiality; and to those who have mirrored back to us what we most needed to learn about ourselves this year.
